PM Modi gives more punishment to Pakistan, India now plans to block water flowing to Pakistan through…, Pakistani expert makes shocking claims, says…

Islamabad: After the Pahalgam terror attack by the Pakistan-backed terrorists, several reports claimed that the Modi government has fallen into the trap set by Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir. However, a Pakistani expert has asserted that it is not India, but Pakistan itself that has fallen into the trap. Dr. Huma Baqai, a Pakistani expert on geopolitical affairs, while speaking to Geo News’s Hamid Mir said that India never intended war; rather, its goal is to stop the flow of water to Pakistan. She claimed, “India is now planning to block the rivers that flow from Afghanistan into Pakistan.”

Dr. Huma Baqai claimed that “India’s recent bold move is actually aimed at stopping Pakistan’s water. India not only wants to block the Chenab, Jhelum, and Indus rivers, but also plans to block the Kabul River at 12 points, which flows through Afghanistan. If Pakistan wants to go to the United Nations, it should raise the water issue.” Dr. Huma Baqai’s claim has created a stir in Pakistan. The country now appears to be heading toward a crisis that directly threatens its economic backbone.

Will India block rivers in Afghanistan?

Indian diplomats met with senior officials of the Taliban government. after the recent cowardly terror attack on innocent tourists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam by the Pakistan-backed terrorists. As for the rivers in Afghanistan, the Kabul River originates there and then enters Pakistan, becoming a lifeline for many regions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The river’s water is a primary source for agriculture and water supply in areas like Peshawar, Nowshera, Attock, and up to its confluence with the Indus River.

Although the Kabul River is not part of the Indus Waters Treaty (1960) between India and Pakistan, its strategic importance to Pakistan is immense. Since Pakistan has no water-sharing agreement with Afghanistan, this situation presents a significant opportunity for India. India has already built several dams on the Kabul River, which could now prove beneficial. However, the Indian government has not made any official statement regarding such claims.

According to the reports, India is working jointly with Afghanistan on dam and water management projects at 12 locations along the Kabul River. Through this initiative, India is helping Afghanistan with energy and irrigation infrastructure. As a result, if the flow of water from these dams is halted, the supply of water from Afghan rivers to Pakistan could be disrupted. This means India could pressure Pakistan without firing a single bullet. Controlling the flow of the Kabul River would directly affect Pakistan’s Pashtun belt, where there is already significant anger against the military.

Another challenge for Pakistan is that it lacks sufficient water storage infrastructure, while India has already constructed major projects like the Shahtoot Dam and Salma Dam in Afghanistan. Therefore, having control over the Kabul River gives India yet another tool to cut off Pakistan’s water supply and potentially bring it to its knees without direct conflict.
