Barwon Water’s Lorne Water Treatment Plant (WTP) sample took out the top prize over Coliban Waters’ Trentham WTP and Central Highlands Water’s Lal Lal WTP, claiming the title of Victoria’s best tasting tap water.

The annual Ixom Best Tasting Tap Water in Australia competition is a fun and exciting way to raise awareness of the quality of drinking water and to recognise the efforts of local water service providers in delivering valuable water services to their communities.

Upon accepting the award, Barwon Water Network Operator, Dalkeith Hanley, said, “On behalf of the water treatment team, the regional Team and Barwon Water in general, as well as IXOM, I’d like to thank everyone.”

Barwon Water will now have bragging rights for the next 12 months and will go on to battle it out against other states for the national best-tasting tap water title later in 2025.

As the winner of the 2024 best-tasting tap water in Australia title, Isaac Regional Council will host the national competition in Queensland later in 2025.
